Story Tonic Blog: Overcoming Your Biggest Roadblocks

Struggles, frustrations, and roadblocks in our creative businesses are inevitable.

They’re just part of the game.

It’s always how we respond to them that defines how we will move forward along the way.

Almost all of us are battling with something, big or small, behind the scenes right now.

The path to success is often filled with challenges and setbacks. From financial struggles to overwhelming workloads and self-doubt, these roadblocks can be daunting.

Every challenge is an opportunity for growth, and with the right mindset and strategies, you can turn your dreams into reality. By understanding the root causes and adopting a proactive approach, you can overcome these obstacles and achieve your goals.

Overcoming the Top Hurdles: Common Challenges Faced by Female Entrepreneurs

Let's explore some of the most common challenges entrepreneurs face and discuss strategies to overcome them:

Challenge #1: “I’m not making enough money”

You’re panicking about your business finances and how you’re going to pay the bills this month and next. One of the most pressing concerns for many entrepreneurs is financial stability.

Whether you're struggling to pay the bills or simply not making enough money to grow your business, financial challenges can be overwhelming and the worst issue to address in your business.

What to Do:

  • Create a solid financial plan: What if you sat down and outlined a solid financial plan for your business? When you are in panic mode, it can be best to do this with your coach, who can help you make clearer, long term decisions and develop a detailed budget that outlines your income, expenses, and savings goals.
  • Optimize your business model: What if you spent time with your business model so you could build your business to be consistently profitable in the long run? One of the most impactful activities I take my clients through on VIP Days is to fully evaluate pricing, product offerings, and marketing strategies to ensure profitability.
  • Don’t go it alone: Reach out to a great coach to get expert guidance on coming through this.

Challenge #2: “I feel overwhelmed and overworked each day”

Whether the money is coming in or not, you feel stressed, overwhelmed, and like you just want a break from your business right now. You feel unable to actually get stuff done each day because your workload is overwhelming, or you’re able to get stuff done but you’re burning out in the process.

You’re pushing through, waiting until this passes, but you know deep down this has been happening far too often and it’s no longer the exception but the reality in your business.

What to Do:

  • Get a handle on what’s REALLY going on: Work with your coach to explore how you’re getting in your own way. What are you doing that’s causing overwhelm and stress? Are you putting too much on your plate and not having systems in place to support you?
  • Prioritize and implement effective systems: Create systems and processes to streamline your workflow and reduce overwhelm. SIMPLIFY your to do list. Again talking through a long list with an accountability partner or coach can really help you do this.
  • Practice self-care: Make time for activities that help you relax and recharge, and contemplate this question: What if you explored how you really want to be working and committed to making that a reality along the way?

Challenge #3: “I can’t get my business off the ground”

Maybe you’ve had a few clients and customers so far, but you just can’t seem to reach your monthly income goals.

Or maybe you’re still in the launching stage and you haven’t even got the key pieces up and running yet.

Maybe you’re just procrastinating and doing busy work and not feeling like you’re actually getting anything done….

Or maybe you’re investing in courses, coaches, or books and hoping that they will have all of the answers and do the hard work for you.

But the result is the same whatever you try: you are not getting ahead in your business.

What to Do:

  • Take a breath: Many entrepreneurs struggle to get their businesses off the ground or achieve significant growth- you are NOT alone!
  • Set clear goals: What if you got laser-focused on the things that will truly make a difference in your business growth?
  • Focus on high-impact activities: What if you committed to 1-3 core goals for the next few months, and held yourself accountable to doing the work that really matters most?
  • Get support from someone who has already been there: Find a coach, accountability partner, or join a mastermind group to stay motivated. It’s time to stop listening to all of the noise and get super connected to your vision for your business.
